So I've spent the last seven days listening to people telling me how they're going to lose weight, eat healthily, become less shy, yadda yadda.
"And what's YOUR New Year's Resolution?"
Well, I have none. Why? Because I'm haughty and obnoxious. Yes, I could be less sarcastic. I could be nicer to people I don't like. I could be more outgoing. But frankly, these changes wouldn't have a positive effect on me. They'd simply result in me becoming more suited to, y'know... other people. I don't want to adapt and assimilate. I'm quite happy with myself, thank you very much. I change all the time anyway but the core remains the same and I like it. When I make resolutions, I choose a random day, it doesn't have to be January 1st.
I don't need a crystal ball to predict what's going to happen in 2010 so I can tell you.
"Please don't, we're not interested in that life of yours," I hear you whimper. I'll tell you anyway.
I'll turn 18. This doesn't mean I'll suddenly become a) more responsible, b) wiser.
Some of my friends will turn 18 too. This doesn't mean they'll become a) more responsible, b) wiser.
Some people will also turn 19, 20, 80, 45, etc. This also doesn't mean they'll become more responsible or wiser.
I'll buy a new camera.
I'll finish grade 7 piano.
I'll spend the summer abroad.
I'll talk to The Escapist. It's a futile task but at least I'll feel like a great, courageous person after he tells me to get lost.
I'll learn Swedish. At least a little bit. Lite grann.
I'll read/sew/write a lot.
I'd like to meet new people too. Intelligent, nice ones. Not the nasty kind, thank you.
Oh, wait. I do have a New Year's resolution. I'll mend all socks that have holes in them. If there ever was a noble resolution, this is it.
Yay, I found your blog!
ReplyDeleteWhen are you doing your grade 7 piano?
Oh, hullo there! (:
ReplyDeleteThe exam is in June - I'm already choosing stuff for the programme, I'll have to practise like a madwoman!
